Marginal Wharf Upgrade at Penn Terminals

The intent of the project was to stabilize the existing Penn Terminal wharf along the shore of the Delaware River in Eddystone, PA. Agate installed a new façade structure along the entire perimeter of the wharf. The scope of work consisted of the installation of 83- to 20-inch diameter pipe piles augered to sound rock and connected with 651 interlocking 50-foot sheet piles. The cavity between the existing bulkhead and the new sheeting face structure was backfilled entirely with concrete. The structural work was followed by the installation of a new fender system, safety ladders, fire stand-off pipes, drainage and outfall pipes. The surface was then completed with new curbs and surface treatment. All work took place while maintaining ship access to the dock. Work began on September 1, 2019, and was completed by December 31, 2019. Agate worked under with a 24/7 schedule through completion.
